ITV The Chase's Bradley Walsh floored by Anne Hegerty's outburst

The Chase's Anne Hegerty floored fans with her singing outburst on the ITV show.

Four new contestants tested their wits against The Governess on Monday's edition of the popular ITV game show.

Neil, Bev, Bertie and Linda were the latest quizzers who challenged one of Britain's finest minds to see if they could win a cash prize.

Neil was first up and the 48-year-old music conductor put in an impressive performance to build up £5,000 in the cash builder.

Neil had managed to stay a couple of steps ahead of The Chaser in the head-to-head and was fortunate to be asked a music question to secure his position in the Final Chase.

Host Bradley Walsh asked: "In the song 'American Pie', which of these words is used to rhyme with the word pie."

He confidently answered "Rye" to progress to the final round, before The Governess launched into a rendition of the Don McLean classic.

And the Chaser's singing voice clearly impressed the host and the contestant as they were both quick to compliment Anne's voice.

Neil said: "That was a good audition!"

Bradley added: "I tell you what, you've got a lovely voice, Anne! A lovely voice!"

Fans on Twitter were in agreement with the presenter as they took to the social media platform to praise The Governess.

Steve said: "I'm impressed, Anne. And I thought there was only one singing Chaser round town."

Cerys commented: "Loved that bit of singing on The Chase."

Tomasi added: "Haha love it when Anne sings on #TheChase!"

Robin posted: "Yaaay, brilliant vocals."

The Governess found herself up against a tough team as all contestants progressed to the Final Chase to compete for a combined £19,000.

They set a target of 17 steps - which Anne Hegerty was unable to achieve meaning the team each went home with £4,750 each.

*The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV and ITVHub
