ITV The Chase's Anne Hegerty announces she is taking a sabbatical

Anne Hegerty has said she is taking a sabbatical from work as the coronavirus pandemic continues.

Filming for The Chase has been suspended due to COVID-19, resulting in ITV playing repeats in their 5pm slot.

But Anne said she is taking a break from work, after a fan asked if she had been furloughed.

The topic arose, when The Governess posted a selfie wearing a face covering, saying: "I have masks."

A fan replied to her on Wednesday, saying: "Knew you would be wearing one Anne, lol."

Anne said: "I got recognised in Tesco yesterday even with mask on!"

The social media user then asked: "Have you been furloughed?"

Anne replied: "Me? Not furloughed, just having a bit of a sabbatical."

But viewers needn't worry about missing Anne for now, as she will appear on out TV screens for the final of Britain's Brightest Celebrity Family on July 9.

For the winning famous family, there’s a whopping £25,000 prize for their chosen charity up for grabs, as they compete against one another.
