ITV The Chase fans tell player to 'divorce' husband after controversial advice

The Chase viewers urged a player to divorce her husband after she revealed the advice he gave her before arriving on set.

The popular ITV quiz show sees a team of four strangers go up against one of the eponymous Chasers, who are some of the finest quizzers in the country.

The team attempts to build and win a cash jackpot which is then shared equally among the players who make it to the final round.

In tonight's episode, which was a repeat, languages teacher Amy appeared on the smash hit quiz show and earned £4,000 in her cash-builder round.

When Chaser Shaun 'the Dark Destroyer' Wallace made her a high offer of £34,000 and a minus offer, Amy revealed her husband Jake had told her to go low.

Amy said he had told her: "You've got to go low, you've got to go low".

But Amy said she couldn't take a low offer when it was a minus, as it would take away from the money earned by her teammates.

Amy was successful in her head-to-head against Shaun and made it back to the Final Chase with the £4,000 she had earned.

Congratulating her, presenter Bradley Walsh said: "I've got one thing to say to you, what the hell does Jake know?"

Viewers shared their thoughts on Twitter.

Rebecca said: "My husband told me to go for the lower offer. Divorce him."

Rik said: "Bad enough she's married - but married to someone who suggests taking a low? Oh Amy......"

Bobby said: "Imagine being married to a guy like that."
