ITV The Chase fans stunned by sandwich shop owner's bread blunder

ITV The Chase viewers were stunned when a sandwich shop owner didn't know a question about bread.

The smash-hit quiz show sees a team of four strangers try and outsmart one of the eponymous Chasers in order to build and win a cash prize.

The show attracts millions of viewers, with fans offering their thoughts on the players and questions on social media while the show airs.

In tonight's episode, which was a repeat, fans were stunned when one player didn't know which type of bread was typically served with hummus.

Debs, a sandwich shop owner from Hampshire, left viewers baffled when she revealed she serves 1,500 to 1,600 customers per week in the "very busy" shop - but was unable to deduce the correct answer.

Presenter Bradley Walsh was also stunned when Debs selected ciabatta instead of pitta for her answer.

Business owner Debs earned £3000 in her cash builder round before going head-to-head with Paul 'the Sinnerman' Sinha.

Unfortunately, she was caught by the Chaser and didn't make it back to the Final Chase.

Viewers took to Twitter to share their thoughts.

On viewer said: "I pitta anyone who buys a sandwich from Debbie’s Underpass sandwich shop!"

Another commented: "What sort of sandwich establishment is this joker running if she doesn't know what bread is served with [hummus]?"

A third joked: "No sense of hummus".

Paul said: "Pitta she didn't know the answer".

Gillian said: "And she owns a sandwich emporium?? FFS!!"

Mark said: "Jesus! Owns a sandwich shop? REALLY?"

Yan commented: "Who in the world doesn't know you have pitta with hummus".

Rob added: "Pittaful".

*The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV
