ITV The Chase fans stunned by contestants' name coincidence

The Chase fans were left stunned tonight as the names of two contestants combined to form the name of a major historical figure.

Tonight's show saw four contestants take on The Vixen, Jenny Ryan, who was tonight's Chaser.

But in a remarkable coincidence one of the contestants, a 50-year-old office administrator from Johannesburg, was called Winston and sat next to him was Churchill, a 22-year-old economics student from London.

There was also a Theresa on the show and she was sat next to June, with fans wishing the other contestant was called May to continue the Prime Ministerial theme.

Viewers were quick to pick up on the hilarious coincidence and rushed to comment on it on social media.

Ash Williams said: "Winston. Churchill. Well I never."

Lee Carlsen said: "There’s a bloke called winston and a bloke called churchill on # thechase what on gods green earth."

Zoe Barnes said: "Honestly I'm so in love with the person at @ ITVChase who decides what order the contestants go in - Winston Churchill."

And Troy Hill said: "The Chase is taking the p**s isn’t it? Four contestants Winston - Churchill - Theresa - June, Surely they could have found a “May” out there somewhere. Madness."

Chaser Jenny Ryan was first to comment on the names telling Bradley she didn't want to "break up" the almost Prime Minister duo.

Contestant June told Jenny she was born in May, so it was almost there.

Host Bradley Walsh was also quick to pick up on the coincidence saying: "It's very very clever that."

*The Chase continues at 5pm on ITV tomorrow
