The Chase fans were left in stitches tonight, as host Bradley Walsh asked a contestant if he was wearing his outfit for a bet.
As John in seat one stepped forward to take on his cash builder, Bradley's first question was, "So the suit are you wearing that for a bet?"
John admitted that he was wearing the suit because of a wager with a friend - but admitted he did actually wear it out in public as well.
He said: "Yes it's a slight wager with my friend - but it's actually my golf suit - I play a lot of golf and like to stay active.
"If I won a lot of money I'd like to go diving with sharks in a cage in Australia and take my wife Emma."
John said he wanted to take on The Sinnerman in a battle of the suits - but he actually got Anne Hegerty.
And Anne also made a withering remark about John's attire, as she said: "You appear to have come as a giant sock."
His teammates told him to take the £5k he's made in his cash builder, because "you're as smart as your suit."
And he chose to play for the £5k, but sadly he wasn't able to get past Anne and for him the Chase was over.
But fans had plenty to say about his interesting dress sense.
One said: "John , what a pillock.... his suit will be the only thing he’s remembered for ..... caught."
Another said: "A performance as poor as his choice of suit."
And a third said: "my nan's bathroom was tiled like that."
