ITV The Chase fans in disbelief as contestants' names coincide with famous Prime Minister

Many Chase fans couldn't believe their eyes as the names of two contestants put together matched the name of a famous former Prime Minister.

During Monday night's episode, in a remarkable coincidence, 50-year-old office administrator Winston sat next to 22-year-old Churchill, an economics student from London.

On the front of the team's desk, the two names put together read: "Winston Churchill" - taking many viewers who were watching from home by surprise as they headed online to share their reactions.

The show's eagled eyed fans were also quick to spot the name of Winston and Chruchill's fellow team mate Teresa - who sat next to June - with many wishing the fourth contestant was called May instead, to continue the Prime Ministerial theme.

One viewer tweeted: "Winston. Churchill. Well I never."

Lee Carlsen said: "There’s a bloke called winston and a bloke called churchill on # thechase what on gods green earth."

Zoe Barnes added: "Honestly I'm so in love with the person at @ ITVChase who decides what order the contestants go in - Winston Churchill."

"You've got Winston Churchill and Theresa June... SO close..." Matthew Hankin wrote.

Meanwhile, Troy Hill said: "The Chase is taking the p*** isn’t it? Four contestants Winston - Churchill - Theresa - June, Surely they could have found a “May” out there somewhere. Madness."

Chaser Jenny 'The Vixen' Ryan was the first in the studio to comment on the names, telling host Bradley Walsh that she didn't want to "break up" the almost Prime Minister duo.

"It's very very clever that!" Bradley said.

Funnily enough, hopeful June later told Bradley that she was born in May.

The Chase continues at 5pm on ITV tomorrow
