ITV The Chase fans enraged as contestant makes unthinkable decision

ITV viewers watching The Chase were enraged when a contestant did the unthinkable.

Chris, Tom, Karen and Andy were on the show today all hoping to win the prize fund.

Call centre manager Andy was up first as he took on Chaser Anne Hegerty.

Chris started strong, securing £9,000 in the cash-builder, he then went on to win this in the head-to-head round.

Unfortunately, Karen who went for the high offer found herself unstuck and was knocked out of the competition.

It was then 74-year-old Chris' turn, despite having a poor cash-builder round, Chris aimed high opting for the £42,000 offer.

And despite Anne's surprise at her decision, Chris was the one laughing as she made it through to the final round.

Both Andy and Chris' efforts saw the prize fund reach a total of £51,000 - and there was still one player to go.

Tom, 24, looked to round the figure up to £60,000 after winning £9,000 in the cash-builder.

He was offered £49,000 as a high offer, with Bradley saying Tom shouldn't even think about the minus offer.

But then Tom did the unthinkable and took the lower offer of minus £6,000 - taking the prize fund down to £45,000.

Viewers were riled by Tom's decision, despite fellow contestant Andy saying he wouldn't mind the university student taking the minus offer.

Anne said:" There's going to be a lot of people throwing cushions off their sofa at the TV now."

Vicky said: "Anyone else get overly angry when they go minus?"

Jonny said: "Taking -£6k... Disgusting.

Jennie wrote: "So he got 9 grand and took the minus 6 grand?! Nah time for you to get caught pal!!!"

Jamie said: "Imagine getting 9k in cash builder and going for minus -6k disgrace"

Kate said: "Nothing gets me more angry then someone taking the minus offer."

Joe tweeted: "Bloke on the chase just took the minus offer. Day ruined."
