ITV The Chase fans call out 'harsh' question saying the answer is 'wrong'

The Chase fans have called out the show after a contestant lost out on making it to the final with a "harsh" question.

Heating engineer Alun has performed very well in the cash builder round banking £7,000 to go head-to-head with chaser Shaun Wallace.

The 48-year-old from Cardiff was close to making it back to the team but one question sent him packing - and viewers were confused by the answer.

In what the Dark Destroyer called a "penalty shoot out", Alun was one right answer away from putting the prize fund up to £18,000.

Host Bradley Walsh said: "Which of these is the act of accidentally phoning someone when carrying a mobile phone in your back pocket?"

But the answer Alun, and many fans, was looking for wasn't up there.

He was given the options of A) Butt dial, B) Booty call, or C) Bottom ring.

Controversial question on The Chase (ITV)

Reluctantly, Alun chose 'booty call' but added: "I normally call it a pocket dial, but it wasn't up there."

Booty call was wrong and the answer the show wanted was 'butt dial'.

Even Bradley was unsure about the answer, he said: "Never called it that, butt dial. Never heard of that."

And it wasn't just him, fans on Twitter said 'only Americans call it a butt dial'.

One, @michaelDMG said: "Since when was it called a butt dial?"

Another, @weepigeonface said: "Butt dial?? That’s harsh."

A third, @niamhs90 said: "It's not a butt dial. It's a bum dial. We aren't American..."

A fourth, @__bonedigger__ said: "I call it a pocket dial."

And a fifth, @LeePartridge16 said: "Butt dial... my arse it is."

Tom and Yvonne won (ITV)

Alun was caught by the chaser and went home on the controversial question, Bradley added: "Tough question to go out on."

The remaining team members, Tom and Yvonne, went on to win, taking home £11,000 between them.

*The Chase is on ITV1, weekdays from 5pm
