ITV The Chase drama as Mark Labbett kicks and breaks table in shock outburst

It may only be a TV gameshow, but the Chase’s professional quizzers take the programme very seriously.

So seriously, in fact, that when they lose, they have to do their best to keep their frustration to a minimum.

Not Mark Labbett, however.

On Thursday’s episode, he was so peeved after losing the last round after getting his final question wrong that he kicked and broke the table he was sitting at.

The 54-year-old lost his rag after being piped at the post by contestant Mike, who was the only one from his team who made it through to the final.

That didn’t put vicar Mike off - he earned an impressive 18 points as he went up against The Beast.

Mark got off to a flying start but floundered towards the end, meaning the clock ticked down dangerously as he answered his final questions.

And it was his last question that was to determine the outcome of the competition - host Bradley Walsh asked what “callard and bowsers” meant in Cockney rhyming slang.

Mark answering “biscuit” - and knew straight away he’d got it wrong as the clock stopped, leaving Mike walking away with £8,000.

The veteran Chaser was so annoyed with his error, he kicked the table he was sitting at and slammed his hands down on it.

“You’ve broken the table!” Bradley said, before hunting to find the part that had broken off.

Mark wasn’t too bothered by the Bradley’s exclamations, even when the host told him off.

“Look what you’ve done to my table, he’s broken my table!” he scolded.

Better luck next time, Mark.

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on BBC One.
