ITV The Chase contestant beats mum as she wins £15k jackpot

One contestant on The Chase received major bragging rights today as she beat her mum to win £15,000.

Becky, from Essex, was on the show hoping to win the cash prize in order to buy a coffee machine and wine fridge.

Revealing that she had just moved in with her boyfriend, Becky said she wanted to get 'the essentials first' before buying carpets and furniture.

However, when speaking to host Bradley Walsh, the 27-year-old dropped a bombshell - that her own mum had been on The Chase before.

She said: "I'd actually like to take on Anne, as my mum got caught by her."

Bradley said: "Oh your mum was on the show?"

Becky replied: "Yes, she got caught in the final step, but this is it, I need to do better than her."

Becky had a successful cash builder, securing a cool £6,000.

She then had to take on The Beast if she wanted to make it through to the Final Chase.

Becky, an English teacher, revealed that her mum faltered at this stage, failing to make it to the final round.

Wanting to do one-better, Becky proved to be a tough match for Mark Labbett, answering most questions correctly.

Not only did Becky make it one round further than her mum, she also ended up winning £15,000.

This was split between three other contestants, meaning she took home £3,750.
