ITV The Chase Bradley Walsh misses pattern in contestants' names viewers can't unsee

Bradley Walsh was left perplexed after it was pointed out by the chaser in tonight's episode of The Chase, which aired on ITV at 5pm on Friday, November 11, that the names of the latest contestants all spelt out the titles of two very familiar songs.

Carmen, Eileen, Danny and Roy all took part in the much-loved quiz show, which is hosted by the 62-year-old presenter and actor, this evening and when Roy became the first contestant to face The Chaser - his chosen genuis was Shaun Wallace - it was pointed out to Bradley the comical aspect of the order in which the contestants - and their names - had been placed.

Entering the chaser's seat, Shaun said before breaking out in song: "You can see from your names... 'Come on Eileen' - get it? Carmen - Eileen [referring to the Dexys Midnight Runners hit]. And the Londonderry Air - 'Oh Danny Roy...'"

Met with laughter from the audience, Roy soon said in jest: "Can I change my choice?"

Bradley responded: "Yes... no I didn't see it. Carmen Eileen and Danny Roy. Right ok, song[s]." Moving on swiftly, Bradley immediately started addressing the prize money at steak.

But while Bradley swept this fun detail under the rug, viewers couldn't contain their delight at this hilarious - yet seemingly accidental - pattern in The Chase contestants' names, as memes and Tweets filling up social media.

One viewer, Elvis Brown, wrote: "Carmen Eileen..... good one. #TheChase", while another, Steve Lowe, commented: "Come on (Carmen), Eileen? Danny Boy (Roy)? Oh, god, here we go again! #TheChase"

He then added: "Yes, it’s a right banger, I know- but what went into the minds of the contestant researchers to find those people with those similar sounding names? #TheChase"

@LeadHyperion wrote: "Hehehe Carmen Eileen..... #TheChase" alongside a picture of the four contestants as well as @NeillFriedman, who posed the question: "Anyone notice the songs in the names of tonight's contestants #TheChase", to which @JSapier replied: "#thechase No, just everyone on Twitter"

While Mark Lewington found this partnering "Clever!"

The Chase airs every week day at 5pm on ITV.
