ITV The Chase Anne Hegerty apologises for 'not knowing anything' after poor round

Chase viewers were left concerned for Chaser Anne Hegerty tonight as she took on the contestants.

The Governess is usually a formidable force, with contestants shaking in their boots as they face her.

Tonight's first contestant was Scout leader Jolian who said he wanted to take a wife on a wing walk if he won some cash.

Jolian managed to score a disappointing £2,000 in his cash builder and his team even encouraged to take the lower offer as he faced Anne.

Jolian decided to play for the £2,000 he had earned, but wasn't hopeful against Anne.

But Anne had a shocker of a round, getting several questions incorrect ensuring Jolian managed to get back to his team.

Anne apologised for her poor form, saying she clearly "didn't know anything" and had "left my brain backstage."

And viewers at home also wondered what had happened to the previously formidable Chaser.

Jacquie said: "Anne! What’s happening? Don’t give them the idea that they can beat you!"

Harris said: "Is Anne broken?"

@moneydreams said: "Cannot believe Anne got 4 questions wrong in a row. She’s never off her game like this."

RJ said: "I don't think I've ever seen Anne have such a bad round."

And Kyle Sewell said: "My God I've got more right than Anne."

When second contestant Raki faced Anne, Anne said she had previously "played like a chimp" and wasn't sure how she would perform against Raki.

But Anne appeared to regain her form quickly, with Raki unable to get past her and going home with nothing.

As Raki departed Anne said: "My brain was back then I saw it."

And Anne also saw off third contestant Ann, proving she was fully back to her best.

*The Chase continues at 5pm on ITV tomorrow
