ITV The Bay viewers may recognise character from Emmerdale and Coronation Street

As ITV's The Bay gears up for its third series, a new face may look familiar to soap fans.

DS James Clarke returns to the seaside crime drama, after appearing in the final episodes of season two.

The Detective Sergeant is played by Andrew Dowbiggin, and will appear in all episodes of the series.

Coronation Street viewers may recognise Andrew, who played Toby Chapman on the cobbles in 2017.

Toby was married to Toyah Battersby, with the couple desperate to have a baby, though Toby already had children.

After five cycles of IVF, their marriage was falling apart, and Toyah had an affair with her sister's ex, Peter Barlow.

Weatherfield isn't the only fictional village Andrew has visited.

Emmerdale fans may recognise him as Anthon Bluth, who enjoyed a run in the village in February 2014.

Viewers met Anton after he took Bernice Blackstock on a date.

But after meeting online, the date ended in terror, as Anton handcuffed Bernice to a bed in Nicola and Jimmy's house - before robbing the place.
