ITV's Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? is looking for contestants from Merseyside

ITV quiz show Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? is ready to start filming for its 33rd season and TV bosses are looking for people from Merseyside to take part.

If you want to be in with a chance of getting your hands on a cool million, producers at the show want you to apply.

Last season we saw Wirral brainbox and professional online poker player, Jon Stitcher, crash out on a seemingly simple Google question .

And there was Birmingham's John Robinson who was the first person to get to the million-pound question since 2006.

To date, there has been five £1 million winners since Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? first appeared on TV screens.

The new series will be hosted by former Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson after he took over from Chris Tarrant when the programme was renewed in 2018.

This will be the 33rd series following on from its successful reboot in May 2018.

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? first aired on ITV in September 1998 and instantly became a hit with audiences, having being replicated across the world.

By 2010 production started slowing down and it was eventually axed in 2014.

But all that changed last year when production company dock10 brought it back with a new twist.

The new shows allow the contestants to 'ask the host' alongside its three other helplines 50:50, ask the audience and phone a friend.

Quiz enthusiasts who want to sit opposite Clarkson are being asked to apply now before the new series starts.
