Vernon Kay has shared the one reason his teenage daughters watch Strictly Come Dancing, saying they “don’t care” about most of it.
The BBC dance contest is hosted by Vernon’s wife of 19 years, Tess Daly, 53, who has fronted the show since 2004 and will return alongside co-host Claudia Winkleman for its new series later this month. Vernon, 48, has said he is “glued” to the show while his wife is presenting, but his daughters do not follow suit.
Speaking to Heat, Vernon revealed daughters Phoebe, 17, and Amber, 13, only watch the show for one thing – and it is not the dancing. The This Morning presenter said his children are only interested in the series to see what their mum Tess is wearing each week.

He said while the girls do watch some parts of the show, it is only to catch a glimpse of their mother’s fashion choices. Vernon added his daughters are simply too busy to watch the whole show and said “they’re off” once they have had a chance to see what Tess is wearing.
BBC’s flagship dance competition was due to begin this weekend but the BBC announced it has been postponed following the death of Queen Elizabeth II. Its first episode was set to air on Saturday, September 17, but has been delayed as the nation mourns the loss of its monarch and the broadcaster makes adjustments to its schedule.
Strictly’s pre-recorded launch show will now air on September 23, with its first live episode airing the following day. This year’s celebrity contestants include actress Kym Marsh, actor Will Mellor, former footballer Tony Adams and TV presenter Helen Skelton.
