Vera fans not from Newcastle and a few who were unaware of the 'hidden' gem on their own doorstep, were left in awe of a stunning library that featured in the latest episode of the hit drama.
Normality has been restored to Sunday nights for impatient Vera fans who had grown tired of waiting for new episodes featuring Ann Cleeves' much loved character. Vera returned to ITV in January, with its comeback kicking off with the remaining episodes from series 11 - which had gone 'missing' when Vera was shunted from its usual 8m slot last year, in favour of the latest series of The Good Karma Hospital and the launch of Trigger Point.
On Sunday night, lovers of all things DCI Stanhope were treated to the second episode of series 12 - For The Grace of God - which saw the Vera plot switch to the centre of Newcastle, after the body of an ex serviceman played by Our Girl star Mark Armstrong, was discovered amongst mounds of rubbish on the Quayside.

One of the parties of interest was a so called friend of the deceased and he was tracked down by Vera and faithful sidekick DS Aiden Healy, to a library in town. And, while keeping a firm eye on the storyline, a number of viewers took to Twitter to react to the eye-catching location.
One viewer wanted answers on where exactly the library was, writing: "Is that Newcastle library?. looks fantastic, much better than Cambridge City library which is a dump"
Correctly identifying it as the famous Lit and Phil, another Vera responded: "It looks like the Lit and Phil" and reacting to the scene itself, which saw their person of interest try and get away, a third joked: "Only DCI Stanhope could get away with raising her voice in a library!"
