ITV's Trigger Point starts with chilling warning from announcer on what to expect

ITV viewers were left alarmed by a warning that came seconds before the start of new thriller Trigger Point.

After what seems like an eternity of preview adverts for the series from Jed Mercurio, the man responsible for smash hit BBC shows Line of Duty and Bodyguard, the drama finally kicked off on Sunday night.

Following on from Dancing on Ice and the slightly less dramatic Good Karma Hospital, the Trigger Point cast includes Line of Duty star Vicky McClure as front line explosives officer Lana Washington, who joins Joel Nutkins, played by Adrian Lester to find out who is behind a series of bombings in London before fatalities escalate.

In the hours running up to Trigger Point's debut, lead actress Vicky took to Twitter to tell fans to expect a 'bumpy ride' over the next six weeks, praising the cast and crew for all their efforts.

And, on the subject of what to expect from the thriller, an ITV announcer had a warning for those who tuned in for episode one, right before it started.

After a trailer aired for new Sheridan Smith drama No Return aired, he said: "The wait is finally over.

"With scenes of terrorism and peril throughout and some strong language...this Trigger Point."

While some viewers were left slightly alarmed by that intro, others couldn't wait for it to get started.

One tweeted: "Been looking forward to this new drama for ages, time for Trigger Point on @ITV."

Hoping for and expecting great things, a second posted: "ITV have given this Trigger Point the large one, better be decent..." and, echoing the same sentiments, a third remarked: "After all the ITV promo this Trigger Point better be good"

We'll not spoil things but, while some viewers accused the first episode of being slow to start, it had a VERY dramatic conclusion.
