ITV's This Morning to return with Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield after cancellations

This Morning is set to return on Tuesday, September 20 after two days of cancellations. Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield will be back in the studio after coming off air on Friday, September 16 for coverage of King Charles' visit to Cardiff and then again on Monday, September 19 for the Queen's funeral.

During the show that was broadcast on Thursday, September 15, Holly told viewers at home: "That's it for us this week. We'll be off air as ITV news will have special coverage of King Charles' visit to Wales. We'll be back on Tuesday to reflect on Her Majesty's funeral."

Holly and Phil's return comes after they were wrongly accused of jumping the queue to see the Queen Lying-in-State. The pair found themselves in the middle of a storm after a photograph appeared to show them in a fast-track lane to pay their respects to the monarch in Westminster Hall.

This Morning issued a statement on Sunday, September 18 which explained the presenters were in Westminster Hall to film a segment for the show, due to be aired on Tuesday. But bosses are reportedly "at a crossroads" as they debate if they should pull the forthcoming segment of the show following the fallout. You can read more on this here.

The statement from This Morning, which was released on the show's Instagram page, said: "Hello everyone, we would like to clarify something. We asked Phillip and Holly to be part of a film for this Tuesday’s programme.

"They did not jump the queue, have VIP access or file past the Queen lying in state – but instead were there in a professional capacity as part of the world's media to report on the event."

As ITV confirms Holly and Phil's return to screens, the schedule has also been updated to include Lorraine and Loose Women, as well as gameshows Tenable, Tipping Point, and The Chase. Many of the regular shows have been amended on removed from the schedule over the past 10 days as the broadcaster aired special documentaries and coverage of the Queen.
