ITV's The Cube 'set for big-budget revamp' but Phillip Schofield may not return

ITV's epic game show The Cube is set for a comeback, reports claim.

The series that ran from 2009-2015 and hosted by ITV favourite Phillip Schofield, 58, saw contestants try to win £250,000 by taking part in tricky tasks in a tight time period all while inside a perspex cube.

Now, producers of the series are planning its return to TV screens and to ensure it is bigger than before they want to give the game show a 'big-budget revamp', according to Deadline.

The online publication claims that ITV and production company Objective Productions hope to 'significantly increase' the prize money to give the show higher stakes as they embark on rebooting the much-loved series.

It is not known if Schofield will return to present the series.

Mirror Online have contacted ITV for comment.

The exciting news about The Cube returning follows on from reports that Phil has been tempted with a £1.5million book deal about coming out as gay.

This Morning's presenter come out as gay earlier this year after being married for nearly 27 years to Steph and raising two grown up daughters together.

Now it's claimed £1.5million has been offered up on the table to tempt the ITV star into going into painstakingly detail about his life.

A source told The Mirror newspaper: "Book publishers are all desperate for him to write an autobiography.

"They know it could be a best-seller as he's such a household name with a legion of fans.

"The money on advances is now more than £1.5m which could tempt him!"
