ITV's The Chase viewers left speechless as Glasgow man gets applause from Chaser

ITV viewers have taken to social media after watching one Glasgow man race home and secure the cash prize on The Chase.

Simon from Glasgow was praised by many people online - and it's safe to say he's fairly good when it comes to his general knowledge.

The 42-year old airline pilot, who had not long been based in Dubai, looked promising as he scored £7,000 in the cash builder round.

He was soon up against Paul - also known as The Sinnerman - who gave him a low offer of £747 and a high offer of £25,000.

After being urged by his teammates to take what he earned and get home safely, Simon did just that.

He breezed through the questions and ended up being in the final with contestant, Steph.

Not only did he breeze through the cash builder and going up against the Chaser, but he also stormed the final round answering all 18 questions taking the total to 20 thanks to their two step head start.

Once Paul walked back in, the Glasgow man received an applause from the Chaser and praise from his teammate alongside host Bradley Walsh.

Viewers hoped Simon would win but the Chaser was quick to answer.

With a second left, hearts were racing to see whether The Sinnerman would be able to answer the question - but he did not.

Taking to Twitter one said: "They should get Simon to replace the Dark Destroyer. He answered more!."

Another said: "Simon deserves the whole lot if they win. Give her the bus fare home, and that's being generous."

A third tweeted: "Shout out to Simon on #TheChase tonight, some performance from the big fella."

A fourth added: "Wow Simon 18 questions answered all by himself on the chase final round."
