ITV's The Chase contestant's unusual job baffles fans

The Chase fans were baffled as a contestant revealed what he does for a living on today's show.

Host Bradley Walsh welcomed four new quizzers on this week's final episode of the popular ITV gameshow.

Karen, George, Michelle and Peter were up against Anne Hegerty to try and outrun one of Britain's finest quiz brains.

The Governess was in strong form as she swiftly caught Karen after she had built up £4,000 in the cash-builder.

George was up in seat 2 and fans were confused as he revealed he was a "professional gambler".

Bradley Walsh probed what he does for a living and the 30-year-old clarified: "I actually bet on sports events. I write algorithms to bet on sports events."

George also revealed himself to be a keen quizzer as he was a three-time winner of the UK Sudoku Championship.

However, fans of the show on Twitter were surprised at the contestant's unusual job.

@rmolloy786 said: "A professional gambler. Never knew such a thing existed

GB added: "What the hells a professional gambler?"

@MissLionHeart commented: "Professional gambler is not a career!

@Belothie posted: "Professional gambler?? What a job!"

George put in an impressive performances to build up £5,000 in the cash-builder.

Although fans on Twitter thought he would gamble to take the higher offer, he decided to take the sensible route and play for what he had already earned.

The professional gambler managed to stay clear of Anne to book his place in The Final Chase.

He was joined in the final round by Michelle and Peter to compete for an overall £15,000.

The team built up 1 7 steps, but Anne Hegerty caught them with 9 seconds remaining - meaning they left empty-handed.

As Bradley Walsh bid farewell to the contestants, he praised George's "fascinating" job.
