ITV's Susanna Reid takes on Good Morning Britain co-star over Twitter dig at broadcaster

Susanna Reid was very quick to respond as a Good Morning Britain co-star appeared to take aim at ITV, after Nigel Farage beat the presenter to one of the top awards at this year's TRIC Awards this week.

Susanna was up for the News Presenter accolade at the annual event, with her former GMB colleague Piers Morgan in the running, alongside Eamonn Holmes, Stephen Dixon and Nigel Farage and, in a result, that sparked some controversy and even some boos in the room, former UKIP leader Farage took home the trophy.

Farage celebrated his win on GB News, hours after the ceremony had ended, saying: "They hated it. They screamed, they shouted. Gosh I enjoyed it!’" And, as well as the man himself, someone else who celebrated Farage's victory was Andrew Pierce, a regular guest on Good Morning Britain, who tweeted: "One in the eye for the broadcast Establishment as #nigelfarage deservedly wins news presenter of the year in the TRIC awards."

Andrew's post did not go unnoticed by Susanna, who shared is opinion on her own Twitter account and wrote: "The broadcast establishment on which you appear, sitting next to me each morning Andrew. Tomorrow’s @gmb will be interesting…" One of her followers responded: "Yeah I don’t think Andy really thought that one through, did he?" with another telling her: "'The Reid' strikes again, touché . Brilliant"

Susanna's defeat to Farage at the TRIC Awards came just two weeks after the pair were embroiled in a heated clash live on Good Morning Britain, as they traded opinions on Brexit. As the two argued on air, many people watching at home championed Susanna for her 'take down' of the politician.

As well as losing out to Farage, Susanna also saw Piers Morgan, who left GMB in 2021, after storming off set hours earlier, take home the accolade for Interview of the Year, for his sit down with footballer Cristiano Ronaldo.
