ITV viewers claimed they were left facing a 'major' dilemma on Sunday night as they were engrossed in Soccer Aid but had one eye on another channel as things promised to kick off big style on Love Island.
Soccer Aid moved from Old Trafford to a new home of West Ham's ground of the London Stadium as Harry Redknapp and Vicky McClure took charge of England, while the World squad had Arsene Wegner and Idris Elba as their gaffers. As stars like Mark Wright and Liam Payne joined footy legends like Jamie Carragher and Joe Cole for the Three Lions and ex pros like Roberto Carlos and Cafu were joined by famous faces like Mo Gilligan and Martin Compston in the World starting XI.
The first half of this year's fundraiser proved to be compelling watching as the Soccer Aid 2022 teams did battle, with TikTok star Noah Beck giving the World team the lead from the penalty spot and comedian and host Alex Brooker made history as the first player with a disability to ever play in the tie.

However, those football fans who also have an addiction to a certain ITV dating show were keeping one eye on the time, especially when England were awarded a penalty in the closing seconds of the first half, which was put away by Mark Wright, after scorer Beck fouled England's Chunkz.
Soccer Aid has gone to penalties before and, with Love Island staying strong in its 9pm slot, fans were hoping that wasn't going to be the case this time round, especially with an extended half time break as Robbie Williams took to the pitch to perform. Taking to Twitter, one fumed: "Why have ITV got Soccer Aid and Love Island clashing, what kind of scheduling is this?" Another posted: "SOCCER AID BEST NOT OVERRUN LOVE ISLAND."
While there is keen football link to Love Island this year, thanks to Michael Owen's daughter Gemma being in the villa, a touch of Love Island was brought to Soccer Aid, with the show's narrator Iain Stirling becoming commentator for the night.
Soccer Aid did end up going to penalties, with Lee Mack sealing a win for the World squad.
