ITV's Robert Rinder issues defiant message as judge's GMB return prompts plea from viewers

Robert Rinder had a defiant message for viewers and critics as he returned to host Good Morning Britain on Wednesday, with fans issuing an almost immediate plea to producers.

The man, better known to millions of ITV viewers as Judge Rinder, was back in the GMB studio to present alongside close friend Susanna Reid.

In the past, former Strictly contestant Robert has come in for plenty of praise from fans of the breakfast show for his hosting style and approach to hard-hitting interviews.

And, before cameras rolled on Wednesday's edition, which once again dealt heavily with the conflict in Ukraine, Robert took to Twitter to post a quote which sparked a large reaction from his own followers and the show's followers too as GMB shared it on their account.

He wrote: "In a time of deceit telling the truth is a revolutionary act," attributing those words to George Orwell.

The comments thread of Robert's post was quickly filled with demands from viewers to Good Morning Britain bosses to make him a full time host on the programme.

One replied: Relieved to have @RobbieRinder back. He brings empathy, dignity, gravitas, honesty, decency, and yes, some appropriate light relief. (His watch). Just the man we need."

In complete agreement, but being more direct with their request, a second reacted: "Tuned back into GMB this morning after going over to GB News only because Rob Rinder was co-hosting with Susanna, shame he can’t be permanent, his calm, well informed, no ranting or ‘Gotcha’ moments presenting is very refreshing, well done Rob," with another fan tweeting: "I stayed in bed as so fedup with GMB presenters but i love Rob. Wish he would do mon - thur every week."

At the end of Wednesday's GMB, Susanna thanked Robert for his company, to which he replied: "It's been a challenging delight.

"And, as we watch this unfold, it's time to reflect on the freedoms we have and to hold our families tight."
