ITV's Lorraine Kelly shares sad news with viewers in tribute to show guest

Lorraine Kelly paused the latest episode of her show to share some sad news about one of her viewers. The presenter was back at the helm of her ITV show on Thursday (September 22) as she told viewers a previous guest had died.

Following a break, a picture of Sally Nyland appeared on the screen. She last appeared on the show in October last year alongside Lorraine's resident stylist Mark Heyes. During the interview, she thanked everyone on the show for the campaign which helped her to spot the lump under her arm, which turned out to be primary triple-negative breast cancer.

"Without [the Change and Check campaign], I really wouldn't be standing here today and there really wouldn't be a tomorrow for me to be renewing my wedding vows" she told Lorraine. Sally went on to explain that 31 women a day die from secondary breast cancer and she's keen to raise awareness of the illness.

And as Sally was planning to renew her wedding vows in a ceremony held in a glitzy marquee in her back garden at home, Mark was on hand to give her stunning transformation, including a new dress, jewellery and shoes.

However, Lorraine shared on Thursday that Sally had tragically died. Following a break, a picture of Sally alongside her two sons giving her a peck on each cheek appeared on screen. "Now we have some sad news this morning," the Scottish TV star said.

"That's viewer Sally Nyland and Sally died yesterday of advanced breast cancer. She was 46. Sally, as you may remember, was the first person to contact us whenwe started our Change and Check breast cancer campaign.

Sally Nyland previously appeared on the ITV show (ITV)

"She was on the show back in 2019 and was passionate about everyone knowing the symptoms and thanked our campaign for giving her more time with the people she loved. We're sending all our love to her husband, Steve, and her sons, James and Joseph.

"Very, very sad news." Lorraine then issued a reminder to viewers they can find the show's Change and Check leaflet online where they'll also find Dr Hialry Jones' self-check guide."
