ITV's Lorraine Kelly opens up about moment husband urged her to seek medical help

Lorraine Kelly has revealed that her husband recommended she seek out medical guidance after recognising the symptoms of menopause.

The daytime presenter revealed that she thought the indicators were just a sign of stress when she first noticed them.

However, she stated that it was her husband Steve Smith who made out what was really going on.

She has now warned other women to watch out for the symptoms, as reported by Birmingham Live.

It comes after Lorraine previously opened up about her experiences of going through menopause back in 2019.

Lorraine said: "I mean, it was basically my husband who said to me what I was going through. He said, ‘you need to get help, you need to go see the doctor because you're not yourself.’

"You're used to getting too anxious, in pain… you’re tired…"

She added: "And I just thought all of that was just the demands of the job. I got up very early, but I was always able to cope with all of that. I was sort of thriving on stress and the buzz of telly."

Lorraine initially began feeling symptoms whilst in Spain.

"It was horrible, and it crept up on me and all of a sudden, I remember vividly," she explained in 2019.

The Scottish TV star - who also features on Celebrity Gogglebox - added: "I was sitting with Steve and we were away in Spain and it was lovely, beautiful weather and all gorgeous and I just felt completely flat, I had no joy in my life at all.

'"Of course I’m so lucky, I have a fantastic husband, great job, all of that and it was just horrific."

The interview was part of a campaign by Always Discreet aimed at providing women with the tools needed to help understand and manage menopause symptoms with confidence.
