ITV's Lorraine Kelly left excited over 'legendary' star guest after upset at BBC exit

Lorraine Kelly has announced that broadcasting legend Ken Bruce will be making an appearance on her show, sharing her excitement at his impending arrival, as Ken's exit from Radio 2 continues to ruffle a few feathers.

A constant presence on the airwaves for decades, Ken confirmed he was stepping down from his Radio 2 show, famous for phone-in competition Pop Master, earlier this year, telling fans: "It's been a tremendously happy time for me: I've made many friends and worked with many wonderful colleagues. However, I feel that after 45 years of full-time broadcasting on BBC Radio it's time for a change.

"I would stress that this is entirely my decision but some new opportunities have come up and I would like to continue my career in a slightly different way in the next few years, the details of which will be revealed shortly."

And, whie excited about the role, Ken, who has been replaced by Vernon Kay, also claimed to fans he had hoped to stay on the BBC longer. Prior to hosting his final show on March 3, Ken told his loyal listeners: "I had intended fulfilling my contract until the end of March but the BBC has decided it wants me to leave earlier," with a BBC spokesperson, in response saying it was 'always known' he was leaving in March.

Lorraine didn't address any of the upset surrounding Ken's departure from the BBC, instead just sharing her delight that he would be joining her in the studio. Signing off from her final show of the week on ITV, the presenter told viewers at home: "We've got Ken Bruce next week! I'm so excited, I love Ken Bruce!"
