ITV's Lorraine chaos as presenter's alarm mix-up sees her 'sleep in' for the first time ever

ITV's Lorraine Kelly has revealed she's slept in for the "first time ever" ahead of her show airing. The presenter appears on screens at 9am every weekday after Good Morning Britain.

However, the 63-year-old has had a bit of a chaotic start to the day, despite originally getting up early. The ITV host woke and showered at 2am after being convinced she'd slept in, before realising she was way too early and got back into bed.

In a turn of events, Lorraine's original alarm then failed to go off, resulting in the presenter actually waking up way too late. Lorraine shared the mix-up with her Twitter followers as she rushed to get ready for her 9am slot."

Sharing a picture of her alarm at 2:03am, Lorraine wrote: "So this is a first. Woke up - convinced I'd slept in - super fast shower - threw on clothes and then looked at the time properly..."

She later added: "So after getting up early - I've managed for the FIRST time to sleep in - YIKES!!!!"

Lorraine, whose alarm would usually go up at 5:35am, posted the tweet at 6:35am, confirming she was running late. Explaining the mix-up she said: "It [alarm] didn't go off for some reason - all very off - but almost at work so will be fine."

Her ITV co-stars and friends were quick to comment, with presenter Paul Brand, writing: "I loved that your alarm is set for 5:35 precisely. Every five minutes counts at that hour!"

Meanwhile, meteorologist Laura Tobin simply wrote: "Nooooo!" For more showbiz and television stories get our newsletter here.
