ITV's Lorraine calls for UK version of The Morning Show and Steve Carell agrees

A new UK version of The Morning Show could be in the works and it’ll all be thanks to Lorraine Kelly. The Scots TV host called for a British take on the hit Apple show while she was interviewing star Steve Carell this morning on her own ITV morning programme.

Hollywood A-lister Carell asked the presenter if her long-running series was a “reflection” on the fictional studio which features in the comedy, also starring Reece Witherspoon and Jennifer Anistnn.

After Lorraine branded the programme “fascinating” she denied any similarities with her own work, but asked if we could be seeing a UK version anytime soon, similar to an English-language version of popular French comedy Call My Agent.

Steve replied: “That’s a great idea, they should.”

After Lorraine then asked the 40 Year Old Virgin actor “will we do that then?” He said he’d have to pass her suggestion on to higher powers. He added: “I won’t be in it, I’m not English. “I was just an actor for hire but I can call Jen and Reece and have them formulate something."

A delighted Lorraine then said: “That would be fine, we can work with them.” Carell was appearing on ITV this morning to publicise upcoming movie Minions: The Rise of Gru and had a laugh chatting with Loraine.

Carell was appearing on ITV this morning to publicise upcoming movie Minions: The Rise of Gru and had a laugh chatting with Loraine. After she asked if the megastar can walk around London and other big cities unrecognised, he revealed he doesn’t get much bother from fans.

Lorraine asked: “Can you just go out and put a wee hat on?” Carell replied: “Yes, I have a different face.” Lorraine then told him “Well when you take your glasses off, you look different, it’s disconcerting.”

Carell is one of the lead roles in Apple original The Morning Show, which focuses on a modern workplace through the lens of the people who help wake America up, pulling back the curtain on early morning TV.

The star then revealed his next big dream would be a stage show on the west end stage.
