ITV's Loose Women stars all wear same colour on set for poignant reason

The Loose Women panel all appeared on screen all wearing the same colour for a very important reason on Thursday, as they marked a year since Brenda Edwards' son Jamal passed away.

The first indication of the show's tribute to music entrepreneur, founder of SBTV and youth campaigner Jamal was given during This Morning, when Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby crossed live to their ITV neighbours to find out what they had coming up on their show.

Loose Women host Charlene White was on hand to speak to Phillip and Holly and as the camera panned to show her and her colleagues all wearing blue, the ITV news anchor and I'm A Celebrity star began: "As you can both see and everyone watching, we are wearing blue today and that's for a very good reason."

Placing a supportive hand on Brenda's arm, Charlene continued: "One year on from his passing, we're celebrating Brenda's son Jamal and blue was his favourite colour. He was the entrepreneur who launched the careers of Ed Sheeran, Jessie J and countless others and today, Brenda and her daughter Tanisha will be paying tribute to a special son and brother."

Glancing at Brenda, Charlene ended the link: "So we'll be supporting our friend Brenda, as well as having some classic Loose laughs along the way."

Jamal died suddenly at the family home in February 2022, aged just 31, with Brenda at his side, with the former X Factor star turned West End leading lady Brenda then admitted she was left in 'a state of shock' months later after finding out Jamal died from cardiac arhythmia, after taking recreational drugs.

Brenda spoke out about the cause of Jamal's death, telling her social media followers: "His passing has shown that one bad decision on any one occasion can lead to devastating consequences."

During the course of Thursday's Loose Women, a video of Brenda and daughter Tanisha appeared on screen, with Brenda championing Jamal and everything her late son did to help young people further their careers and deal with mental health issues. She added that Jamal was the 'busiest person she knew,' joking that even she had to make an appointment to see him.

And as the video ended and cameras cut back to the Loose Women studio, Brenda was embraced in a group hug by her co-stars, as presenter Charlene asked if she was OK to go on with the show.
