ITV's Britain's Got Talent loses viewers as fans switch over to BBC

By Gemma Jones

Fans of Britain's Got Talent had a very hard decision to make tonight resulting in some choosing to switch over.

It was the night many had been waiting for, as Eurovision returned to our screens for the much-anticipated grand final 2022. Fans of the song contest enjoyed a night of singing, dancing, crazy performances and colourful costumes as the European show was broadcast on BBC One - going head to head with BGT.

While most fans can watch the ITV talent show on catch up TV, they opted to switch over to the beebs instead to enjoy talent from all over Europe. But the decision didn't come easy, as proven by comments on Twitter.

Gaius said: "Bow tie [their cat] is in a dilemma tonight. #Eurovision #Eurovision2022 or #BGT? It's more excitement than a little cat can handle."

Deaglan said: "What to watch? #BGT or #Eurovision?" Rosie said: "#BGT on at the same time as Eurovision? Typical lol"

Paul said: "BBC and ITV must be kind of freaking out right now. #Eurovision and #BGT are on tonight. Not much time to fit it all in, is there?"

Steve said: "Sorry #BGT vs #Eurovision. I think we know everyone's WATCHING @BBCOne tonight. Will catch up on you tomorrow."

One user, Shaky, carried out a poll asking which option viewers would go for. Out of 42 votes, only 10% opted for Britain's Got Talent. 60% opted for Eurovision and 30% chose neither.

Britain’s Got Talent airs on ITV every Saturday at 8pm.
