ITV reveals first look at Coronation Street and Emmerdale crossover Corriedale

Coronation Street actress Vicky Myers and Emmerdale actor Danny Miller will appear in the ITV special - (ITV)

Soap fans are in for a treat as ITV shares first-look images from Corriedale — the historic episode uniting Coronation Street and Emmerdale for the first time.

In what is set to be one of the most anticipated moments in soap history, the one-off crossover episode will bring together characters from both shows for a drama-filled hour of television.

The exclusive photos reveal Corrie’s DS Lisa Swain and Emmerdale’s Aaron Dingle as the first two iconic characters confirmed to appear in the special.

Taken during the first of several thrilling night shoots, the pictures show stars Vicky Myers and Danny Miller sharing a candid behind-the-scenes moment before filming began.

Lisa Swain’s life on the cobbles has been thrown into turmoil following the shock return of her ex-wife Becky, presumed dead until recently. Meanwhile, over in the Dales, Aaron has been dealing with his own emotional upheaval — from confronting his killer ex-husband John Sugden to the reappearance of Robert Sugden’s secret prison spouse, Kev.

What leads Lisa and Aaron to cross paths on a dark and foreboding January night remains under wraps, but ITV has promised an explosive, high-stakes special that will link both worlds forever.

Vicky Myers said: “To be involved in this unique, bold, innovative — not to mention history-making — episode, in Coronation Street’s 65th year, is fantastic. When I read the script and found out how the two worlds collide, who’s involved and how it all plays out — wow. It’s going to be unmissable.”

Danny Miller added: “I’m made up that Aaron is in the Corriedale episode. Coronation Street has always been iconic in our house just as much as Emmerdale, so crossing them over is a great idea. The night shoots have been full-on but a lot of fun, and I can’t wait for fans to see how it all plays out. It’s every soap fan’s dream.”

The special will mark the launch of ITV’s new Soaps Power Hour schedule in January, with Emmerdale airing at 8pm and Coronation Street following at 8.30pm on ITV1 and STV. Episodes will also stream from 7am on ITVX and STV Player.
