ITV pulls Emmerdale from air but not Coronation Street

Emmerdale, Loose Women and Lorraine have been pulled from air today as ITV confirms further cancelations to it's flagship shows following the news of Queen Elizabeth II’s death.

The UK's longest serving monarch died on Thursday, September 8 aged 96 at Balmoral in Scotland. The news was announced by Buckingham Palace after senior royals arrived at Balmoral.

In accordance with the intricate plan for the Queen 's death, Operation London Bridge, the nation will see a number of changes over the coming days. This includes everything from what we see on TV to sporting events.

Since the news of the Queen's death both ITV and BBC have been making some major changes to their usual schedules to allow for extensive coverage of the monumental event.

Today will see three of the channel's most popular shows - Emmerdale, Loose Women and Lorraine pulled from the schedule and replaced with special news programmes.

However, other flagship shows including Good Morning Britain and Coronation Street will air as normal. Good Morning Britain, This Morning with Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby will also still be ok, with a special feature including stories and memories from people who encountered The Queen during her reign, at 11am.

Viewers will see the schedule return to some form of normality later this afternoon as the quiz shows return from 4.30 with Tipping Point: Best Ever Finals, followed by The Chase at it's normal time of 5pm.

Coronation Street will return to our screens at 8pm with an episode that should have aired on Friday, September 9 but was cancelled following the heart-breaking news.
