ITV presenter confused as her This Morning segment is cut-off

An ITV presenter and viewers were left confused on Tuesday, as they spotted a familiar segment was missing from the live show.

Each Tuesday around 12.15pm, soap queen Sharon Marshall appears to discuss the latest soap spoilers.

From all the biggest upcoming storylines in the main British soaps, including EastEnders and Emmerdale, Sharon informs fans of what’s around the corner in soap land.

Boris Johnson was announced as prime minister (ITV)

But both Sharon and viewers were left baffled after she failed to appear on the show.

Instead the section was replaced by the Tory leadership election ballot results, in which Boris Johnson was named as the man set to become the next British prime minister.

And some viewers were not pleased about This Morning's usual schedule being interrupted.

One wrote: "Would rather have had soapbox #thismorning ."

Another said: "We aren't getting #soapbox are we... Boris is ruining things already."

And a third wrote: "I hope you're not cut @sharontweet."

Robert Peston's analysis followed the announcement (ITV)

But it appeared Sharon herself didn't know whether her segment was going to run as she tweeted a number of updates.

In her first tweet she said: "And I THINK soapbox is at 12, PM speeches dependent! Am all ready anyway.."

Following the announcement, Sharon said: "Oh come on... I’ve got Sally in a hot tub waiting..."

Viewers suspect that Sharon's soapbox will air tomorrow.
