ITV permanently cancel The Jeremy Kyle Show after Steve Dymond death

ITV bosses have cancelled The Jeremy Kyle Show for good, following the death of Steve Dymond.

The 62-year-old was found dead in his home days after appearing on the show. Friends told of how he was distraught after failing a lie detector test over his relationship with his fiance.

Carolyn McCall, ITV’s CEO, announced today : “Given the gravity of recent events we have decided to end production of The Jeremy Kyle Show.

“The Jeremy Kyle Show has had a loyal audience and has been made by a dedicated production team for 14 years, but now is the right time for the show to end.

“Everyone at ITV's thoughts and sympathies are with the family and friends of Steve Dymond.

"The previously announced review of the episode of the show is underway and will continue.

"ITV will continue to work with Jeremy Kyle on other projects."

Steve's landlady, Shelly, discovered his body surrounded by letters to loved ones.

He had been dead for some days.

According to Shelly, 55, he was 'sobbing and distraught' when he returned from filming on May 2 after failing a lie-detector test about whether he had cheated on his on-off girlfriend, Jane Callaghan.

"He told me he had wanted to kill himself when he was being driven back to Portsmouth by a taxi that the show had booked," she told the  Daily Mail .

Leaked ITV email gives real explanation for suspending Jeremy Kyle show

"He said he thought about overdosing on his medication and throwing himself out the moving car. He was just a mess and he was just humilated."
