ITV Next Level Chef: When is Gordon Ramsay's new show on TV and what is it about?

Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay is back with a new cooking show on ITV1. Next Level Chef, which he will co-host with Paul Ainsworth and Nyesha Arrington, has been billed as the toughest and most epic cooking contest on TV.

It's based on a US version of the show which aired in early 2022 and is also fronted by Ramsay. The eight-part series is set in studio with three unique kitchen spaces set across three storeys and almost 50ft high.

Each floor will test the contestants’ culinary creativity, agility, flare, and expertise, as they vie to progress to the Next Level. 12 chefs will compete in a series of cooking challenges, divided into three teams under the guidance and judgment of the three professional chefs.

In each episode, chefs are assigned to cook in one of three kitchens stacked on top of each other. The top level is equipped with a wide range of modern tools and devices, the middle level is a standard commercial kitchen, and the bottom level contains a limited collection of lower-quality equipment. Contestants will have 30 seconds to choose their ingredients then battle it out to make the best dish in just 45 minutes.

Next Level Chef will begin on ITV1 on Wednesday, January 11 at 9pm as the contestants battle it out from the top-level state-of-the-art kitchen utopia to the gloomy basement level ‘scraps only’ surroundings, Next Level Chef will task its chefs to prove they can thrive in any environment.

Paul is a former protege of Gordon and Nyesha is a very successful American chef. While promoting Next Level Chef on the One Show Paul did admit there was some rivalry between the hosts.

Speaking about Gordon, he said: "I used to work for him a long time ago so to be given that opportunity to take him down at any point was fantastic." All the chefs in the competition are competing to win a year's mentorship under Gordon, Nyesha and Paul and £100,000.

The contestants will be under the watchful eyes of the panel across all three floors as they battle it out to produce the most mouth-watering dishes and avoid elimination. Ultimately, only one can be named Next Level Chef, and the winner will receive a life-changing cash prize of £100,000 and a one-year mentorship under all three mentors.
