ITV News is being investigated by the broadcasting regulator over a complaint that a news report on the London mayoral election was biased against Ukip.
The report, which aired during the 6pm bulletin on 20 April, referenced the main larger political parties and their candidates and policies.
The report did not mention Ukip, which the complainant felt made it biased against the party.
Ofcom has launched an investigation to see if the report broke rule 6.8 of the broadcasting code.
The rule states: “Due impartiality must be strictly maintained in a constituency report or discussion and in an electoral area report or discussion.”
“We’re investigating whether due impartiality was maintained during a report on ITV about the London mayoral election,” said a spokesman for Ofcom.
