ITV making changes to Good Morning Britain, Lorraine and This Morning from January

A new weekday morning schedule for ITV's flagship shows, coming into effect from January, has been unveiled.

ITV has said changes will be made to the current morning programming, including alterations to Good Morning Britain, This Morning and Lorraine.

The string of changes are set to start on January 6, 2020, the broadcaster said.

To compensate for the gap left following the axing of The Jeremy Kyle Show, ITV's breakfast show GMB will now air for an extra half an hour, CornwallLive reports .

Regularly presented by TV personalities Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid, the talk show will on start at 6am and finish at 9am.

Lorraine will take over afterwards, airing from 9am to 10am.

This Morning fans will also be glad to hear that the show will also be extended by half an hour.

According to the broadcasting giant, popular duo Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield will now be presenting the ITV1 daytime favourite from 10am until 12.30pm.

Following on from This Morning will be Loose Women, which will continue in its regular time slot until 1.30pm.

"Live television is at the core of what ITV does and what we bring to viewers," Kevin Lygo, ITV Director of Television said.

"Our new schedule presents the opportunity to engage with our audience throughout the first part of each day," he added. "with some of the most well-known shows on television, in a way that no other channel does."
