ITV Love Island winner Ekin-Su Culculoglu sparks concern as she risks missing Dancing on Ice debut

Love Island winner Ekin-Su Culculoglu has been flooded with well wishes after sharing that she was 'very ill'. The reality star is due to make her Dancing on Ice debut this weekend after signing up to the ITV skating show alongside 10 other famous faces.

Ekin-Su dazzled on the ice earlier this week ahead of the show's return on Sunday (January 15) with hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield back at the helm. The 28-year-old looked at home on the ice alongside partner Brendyn Hatfield as the pair posed in dark outfits with glittery detailing at a press day for the new series.

In the trailer for the show Ekin-Su, who won Love Island alongside boyfriend Davide Sanclimenti last year, said: "Performing is a new adventure for me. I’m nervous about falling on my bum," before a montage of clips showed her falling on the ice.

But her first appearance on the show appears to be at risk. Ekin-Su took to Twitter to reveal she's been advised to rest by doctors, in the hope that she can still compete this weekend. She typed: "Very ill. Doctors have told me to rest hopefully I can recover very quickly ready for Sunday."

And fans were quick to show their support. @Kaaaaatie_x replied: Oh girl you definitely need to look after yourself, the most important thing is that you rest up and feel better!! everything else can wait. sending all the love and positive vibes to you for a speedy recovery."

@fallibleangeI said: "Omg :(( pls rest and get well soon." @EmTa070721 wrote: "Ahhh! I hope you feel better for Sunday!" @NatCaves posted: "Feel better soon lovely. Definitely rest up, need to give your body and immune system a break." @bellestoev added: "Angel omg. Sending you positive energy & get your rest i hope you feel better soon."

It appears that Davide is on hand to take care of his girlfriend, as he posted on Instagram Stories that she was 'in good hands.' Sharing a snap of him planting a kiss on Ekin as she attempted to recover in bed, the 28-year-old wrote: "Someone's home with the fever... in good hands tho."

It comes after Ekin-Su said she sees herself winning Dancing on Ice. "I’m really competitive and I used to ice-skate when I was a little girl – I did a show when I was six or seven and then I started doing ballet," she revealed. "I’ve always had a performance side in my blood and I do think Dancing On Ice will be hard, but it’s an opportunity to show a different audience a side to me. I think I’d be good and I can see myself winning it."

She added: "I’ve never been scared in my life, I’ve never been nervous in my life, I’ve always been confident. I think the only time I’d be nervous would be at the final. I know I’m going to fall and hurt myself because in life you fall and hurt yourself. I’m ready!"

She'll be up against Olympic gymnast Nile Wilson, and Coronation Street star Mollie Gallagher when the show begins. Also completing the grand-new line-up are drag queen The Vivienne, TV personality Joey Essex, comedian Darren Harriott, West End star Carley Stenson, singer Michelle Heaton and The Wanted’s Siva Kaneswaran.
