ITV Love Island viewers baffled as scene made 'painfully awkward' by villa detail

Love Island viewers couldn't quite get their heads around what they were seeing as they claimed a moment between three of the new islanders was made 'painfully awkward' by a specific villa detail.

During Wednesday night's trip to South Africa, where the second-ever winter series is being filmed, viewers saw the islanders continuing to get to know each other before two new bombshells turned heads after taking two of their fellow islanders on dates. Zara Deniz Lackenby-Brown, a 25-year-old model and property developer, and 24-year-old money adviser David Salako were the latest additions to the ITV2 dating show.

After Zara chose to take Ron Hall on a date, the 25-year-old financial adviser found himself in a "sticky position". While enjoying the date in the South African countryside, Ron, who is currently coupled up with 25-year-old make-up artist Lana Jenkins, told Zara that he was happy she picked him.

Meanwhile, Tanya Manhenga, who is currently coupled up with 24-year-old airport security officer Shaq Muhammad, was left feeling conflicted after her date with David. Earlier in the episode the 22-year-old biomedical science student shared the first kiss of the series with Shaq, however, she later told David: "I’m still open, the man of my dreams could be you."

Back at the villa, as their partners enjoyed their dates, Lana and Shaq decided to chat in the swimming pool and were also joined by farmer Will Young, who is currently single after the series' first bombshell Tom Clare partnered up with Olivia Hawkins. As they chatted about what they thought was happening on the dates, viewers were distracted.

Flocking to social media, those tuning in questioned why the Islanders were standing in a "paddling pool" without realising the proper swimming pool, which is Olympic-sized, was right behind them. @iguessikstuff tweeted: "I'm sorry but is this pool made for elfs? like how are they supposed to swim in it when it’s 2 inches deep???? #loveisland."

@KathrinaClarke asked: "Why are they just standing up in the paddling pool like that? #LoveIsland." @adelegrahamok wrote: "WHAT is that monstrosity of a paddling pool #LoveIsland." @alannah_birkett posted: "The pool is a f*****g paddling pool omd #LoveIsland." @Icvestrck said: "That shallow pool is making this even more painfully awkward #LoveIsland." @hadaytona, as did many others, added: "They’re like little sims the way they stand in the pool #LoveIsland."
