ITV Love Island's Gemma Owen and Luca Bish share loved-up snap after 'split' claims as finalists head back to UK

Gemma Owen and Luca Bish have posed for their first loved-up selfie after finishing runner-up during the Love Island 2022 final on Sunday (July 31). The 19-year-old bikini business founder and 23-year-old fishmonger posed together ahead of jetting back to the UK with their fellow finalists.

The couple as well as the ITV2 dating show's winners Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and Davide Sanclimenti, Dami Hope and Indiyah Polack, and Tasha Ghouri and Andrew Le Page have all spent the last couple of days in their own villas before heading home after more than eight weeks away.

Taking to Instagram, Gemma shared a snap of her and Luca cosied up as they headed to the airport on Wednesday morning (August 3). Gemma looked effortlessly glam with her dark locks styled into curls as she donned an all-black outfit for the flight.

Luca matched his girl in a black jacket and wrapped a protective arm around her as they posed for the smiling photos. "Home time," Gemma wrote alongside a white heart as she shared the image with her 1.4 million followers.

It is the first time the new couple has been seen together since the final, with Love Island fans speculating the pair had split before even stepping out of the Mallorcan villa. On Monday, eagle-eyed viewers were asking questions after noticing that Luca was missing from Gemma's Instagram account in the lead up to and the aftermath of the final.

Monday night's final saw dressage rider Gemma and fishmonger Luca come in second place behind winners Ekin-Su and Davide. Supporters spotted that Luca wasn't included in Gemma’s Instagram posts for three days as their eight-week Love Island journey drew to a close.

They clocked that on the day of the final, her account shared an image of the Islander alone. She was the only female finalist to not have a photo of herself standing next to her partner on their feed. The post, with a picture of just Gemma from the couple's romantic final date, said: "Words can’t describe how proud we all are of Gemma. She has shown the nation how mature, honest and classy she truly is."

And those running her account said: "From the bottom of our hearts thank you for all the love and support…Gemma is going to be SO overwhelmed." They added: "We are passing this back to Gemma now… We have loved running her account and being part of her @loveisland journey. We can’t wait for what the future holds #LoveIsland #TeamGemma. Over & Out."

But they still appear to be closer than ever and were spotted at the airport with their fellow islanders. Luca uploaded another photo of Gemma dressed in full black comfies with a statement bag as she waited in the airport.

Dancer Tasha and real estate agent Andrew, who were the first to become an official couple in the villa following a rocky journey, posted a video of themselves both saying "we’re coming home!", as they walked through the airport.

Dami, 26, and Indiyah, 23, were also seen in clips posed to Dami's Instagram page, with the pair simply posing for the camera as they waited around for their flight. Dami then shared a selfie of the pair, writing: "Blowing you kisses," as his girlfriend pouted for the camera with his finger in front to show a heart painted onto his nail.

Turkish actress Ekin-Su and Italian business owner Davide, who lives in Manchester, looked happier than ever as they shared their excitement at returning home, with an adorable clip on their Instagram stories. "We're coming back to the UK," Ekin, 27, captioned the post.

It showed the pair smiling for the camera before Davide planted a kiss on his partner's head as she beamed in delight. Jet 2 also shared clips of the pair holding hands as they made their way through the airport as well as sharing a snap of the group together before getting on their flight.
