Lorraine Kelly told presenter Piers Morgan that he needed to go into a quiet room after being "on one".
The 59-year-old was about to tell Good Morning Britain viewers what was coming up on her show 'Lorraine' when she said: "You have been on one today."
She was referring to his numerous rants earlier in the programme about gender neutral awards categories where he went head-to-head with co-host Susanna Reid about male and female categories at the Oscars.
Susanna said she felt they should still have male and female awards, but Piers tried to explain a situation where Oscar winner Daniel Day-Lewis might want to identify as a female and enter the 'best actress' category.
His provocative behaviour had not gone unnoticed by Lorraine, who then added: "We need to both go into a quiet room and give you a soothing massage."
Piers said he was "bang up for it" as he responded to the playful banter.
Some fans of the breakfast show spotted the exchange and one, @SteveB2Notts said: "Piers and Lorraine flirting."
