ITV Lingo viewers recognise contestant from EastEnders

TV's Adil Ray returned with another instalment of Lingo on Wednesday.

The ITV quiz show welcomed three new couples to the show with hopes of going home with a cash prize.

Andy and Di, Hong and Deborah, and Maria and Doug were putting their linguistic skills to the test.

It was the third couple who caught viewers' attention, with many thinking they "recognised" Maria.

Taking to Twitter, Carly B said: "Been thinking for ages where I recognised Maria from and I've just twigged.

"She looks like a young Patsy Palmer!"

Tony Giorgio said: "Why do I have 'RICKY'' in my head #lingo"

Sadly for Maria and Doug, they left the competition early after being hit with some tricky words.

Their first word began with the letter 'E' with the pair struggling to answer after their second attempt.

Maria shouted "Come on" at Doug, but they were unable to guess the word - which was 'edit'.

Lingo airs weekdays from 3pm on ITV and the ITV Hub
