ITV indicates Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield could replace Jeremy Kyle

ITV could replace Jeremy Kyle's time slot with an extended This Morning show.

ITV are looking to fill Jeremy Kyle's former 9.25am to 10.30am slot, which is currently filled by Judge Rinder on a temporary basis. Jeremy Kyle was axed in May, after a guest died from an overdose just 10 days after failing a lie detector test.

Bosses are the TV channel have suggested extending This Morning and rejigging the day time schedule, to fill the gap.

Plans submitted to an ITV focus group indicate This Morning could start at 10am, with Lorraine airing between 9am and 10am, and Good Morning Britain running from 6.30am to 9am.

ITV's proposal - seen by our colleagues at Mirror Online - says the bumper version of This Morning would feature “funny viewers’ letters and emails” to fill the extra time.

It says: “From crying with laughter at naughty pictures innocent kids have drawn to recalling personal funny and relatable anecdotes.

“Nothing is off limits as they talk about the stories and pictures of the day that have grabbed their attention.”

The plans would see three live shows filling the channel's morning schedule, with interaction between presenters as they 'hand over' from one show to another.

The proposal says: “The show would have more interaction between the end of each show and a smoother handover between presenters into the next show.

“Eg. Lorraine may chat with Phil and Holly to hand over each day.”

Mirror Online understands ITV considered replacing Jeremy Kyle with a new show, but were concerned it could be compared to Kyle and struggle to attract such a huge audience.

An ITV insider told the Mirror that bosses were “looking at different ideas”, but no decision has been agreed.
