ITV I'm A Celebrity viewers 'switch off' day before final as they complain show is 'ruined'

Viewers of I'm A Celebrity... South Africa have admitted they've 'stopped watching' the ITV show a day before the final as they say it has been 'ruined' by the new format. The 'all-star' series kicked off on April 24 and has seen a whole host of memorable, former campmates return to take on the trials once again.

Over the weeks celebrities such as Coronation Street favourite Helen Flanagan, EastEnders' Joe Swash and Dean Gaffney, Made in Chelsea's Georgia Toffolo, model and presenter Myleene Klass and TV star Carol Vorderman have each entered the new South African setting in a bid to be crowned the first ever I'm A Celebrity 'legend'.

The pre-recorded series, which was filmed last year, has a brand new format with no public votes meaning the celebrities themselves choose who takes on the trials which then decides their fate as whoever loses has to leave.

Last night's show (May 10) saw Helen and Dean come last in the 'survival' trial and were therefore the latest celebrities to leave camp.

The trial saw the campmates each locked inside a crate, where they had to untangle a key and a padlock in order to be released whilst critters surrounded them in true I'm A Celeb style.

Helen and Dean's exit comes after the departure of Corrie's Andy Whyment and Georgia 'Toff' on Monday, followed by Joe Swash in Tuesday night's episode after losing their trials.

Now left in the running to be crowned the first I'm A Celeb legend ahead of the final tomorrow night (May 12) are Phil Tufnell, Jordan Banjo, Carol Vorderman, Paul Burrell, Fatima Whitbread and Myleene Klass.

But after the show's new format has left viewer's 'favourites' leaving the show, many fans said they have now 'switched off'.

Taking to Twitter, @moomadee1 wrote: "I've stopped watching, im bored now, viewing figures must be dropping off a cliff, im not interested in any of them now the best have gone #ImACeleb."

@jules5156 agreed: "Stopped watching #ImACeleb," as @Lyncpfc asked: "Anyone else stopped watching #ImACeleb #ImACelebSouthAfrica because of the way people get voted out? It makes no sense to me that people that people who have done virtually nothing have stayed in, I switched off as soon as Andy and Toff went when nobody else would do it."

Picking apart the series' new format, some viewers said they believe the show has now been 'ruined'.

@StefNelson_ wrote: "I'm a celebrity has been so fun but it's ruined by the public not being able to vote #imaceleb #ImACelebSouthAfrica."

@AnnaKaurr said: "The way they’ve done this I’m a celeb is ridiculous all the good people who deserve to be there are gone! #ImACeleb."

@AdamSmi04869456 claimed: "I’m A Celeb South Africa really is rigged the whole format of it just isn’t working. Pick the worst ones to be in camp. Toff, Dean, Helen and Andy were my final 4 all day long but now that’s been ruined because of a rigged process #ImACelebritysouthafrica #imaceleb."
