ITV I'm A Celebrity star Babatúndé Aleshe calls British public 'evil' after being voted for 'horrifying heights'

I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! contestant Babatúndé Aleshe was left 'vexed' after being voted by the public to take part in 'Horrifying Heights'.

The Celebrity Gogglebox star hasn't had the best of luck with trials so far due to his fear of heights, and actually couldn't complete the first trial of the series. The first task of the series sees celebs walk to the end of a wobbling platform from an enormous height, but Babatúndé backed out at the last minute.

On Tuesday nights episode, he learned he would be facing Horrifying Heights as voted for by the public and exclaimed: “The more I think about it the more I’m actually getting vexed. You guys, why did you pick me?”

Mike told him: “Focus on the stars, believe in yourself.” Babatúndé said: “I hope I do better than last time honestly. I hope that I can overcome this, I honestly do.”

Speaking to Ant and Dec, Babatúndé joked of why the public picked him: “Because they’re evil. I clearly proved to them that I don’t like heights.”

Viewers previously expressed their disbelief that Babatúndé was one of the celebrities who openly admitted their fears just minutes into the series. Fans took to Twitter after the comedian called the public 'evil'.

One wrote: "Babatunde saying he's fine on #ImACeleb as he goes to do the trial is as convincing as any woman in history saying 'I'm fine'" Another said: "HAHAHAHA we’re all evil x #ImACeleb "

"I’m evil I voted Babatunde to do this but didn’t factor in the rain or you know how terrified he is ….. ooops #ImACeleb," a third wrote.

Explaining the trial Ant said: “This is Horrifying Heights. All you have to do is make your way around collecting the stars as you go along.” Dec: “And that’s all he has to do?”

Explaining the task, Ant continued: "Well, no, because as you can see Babatúndé it’s 100ft in the air. Once you collect a star, all you have to do is clip it to yourself. Every star you collect is worth a meal for camp. The last star, you have to get, will require a leap of faith.”

Hyping himself up, Babatúndé said: “Come on bro, you can do this.”

Ant encouraged: “Come on, I believe in you.”

Babatúndé faced his fear fully and conquered horrifying heights in torrential rain, and said: “This rain ain’t helping… just my luck.”

Ant said: “You’ve probably noticed it’s started to spin as well now… could it be any harder?”

As he continued with the trial, working his way higher up the structure and successfully collecting stars as he went, Babatúndé admitted: “I’m proud of myself.”

Ant said: “I’m proud of you.”

Making his way to the top level, with just 10 seconds to go Babatúndé reached out and grabbed the final star. But he was told by Ant he had to step off the ledge for it to count - and he made the final leap earning himself 10 out of 10 stars.

He told the hosts: “I kept saying to myself, ‘You are crazy, how am I doing this right now?’ That’s all I kept thinking, ‘How am I doing this?’"

Viewers couldn't contain their delight after Babatúndé conquered his fear of heights, in horrific weather conditions. One said: "BABATÚNDÉ YES OH MY GOD THAT WAS SO WHOLESOME AND AMAZING AND AWWW OMG #ImACeleb "

Another penned: "Watching Babatunde overcome his fears and the other campers treating him to hot water #ImACeleb "

A third wrote: "What a hero Babatunde. Conquered his fear of heights. #ImACeleb "
