ITV I'm A Celebrity's Ant and Dec tease 'new arrivals' as they share what really happens in between live parts

Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly have jokingly teased 'new arrivals' into camp as they gave a debrief on the latest episode of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here. The ITV reality show's hosting duo took to Instagram after Wednesday night's show which will no doubt go down as one of the most highly-anticipated episodes of the 2022 series.

The latest installment saw Matt Hancock make his debut in the jungle alongside fellow latecomer, comedian Seann Walsh. Their entrance was teased in the previous episode and it was revealed they would take part in the bushtucker trial. Viewers watched as the pair faced 'Beastly Burrows'.

After securing six out of a possibly 11 stars in the trial, Matt, 44, and Seann, 36, discovered they would be undercover moles in the main camp and were given a series of secret missions to undertake to earn the campmates their luxury items. Called into Mole HQ – a separate secret camp where the pair started their jungle experience – they were told they must steal someone’s hat and gilet and bring them back to Mole HQ, call Chris Moyles 'Greg' on three separate occasions, and convince the camp that one of them is a keen bird-watcher by re-creating the calls of fictional Australian birds.

But it's fair to say the former health secretary caused a stir as he entered the main camp, with many of the show’s famous faces shocked to see the West Suffolk MP, who had the Conservative Party whip removed after announcing his plans to join the popular show.

After Matt and Seann arrived, radio DJ Chris paid a visit to the Bush Telegraph and said: “Oh my god, two new people have arrived. One of them is Seann Walsh and the other one... I’ve got to go back and double check." Also speaking in the Bush Telegraph, Coronation Street star Sue Cleaver added: "I don’t know what to say."

And it wasn't long before he was getting a grilling. Meanwhile, Ant and Dec took Matt's arrival as an opportunity to poke fun at UK politics and jokingly addressed the Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. The last time they mocked the country's leader was when Boris Johnson was in office.

"I'm not sure how Matt is going to cope in camp though," Ant said. "You know, surrounded by people who don’t know what they’re doing, making it up as they go along and just trying to get by day to day." To which Dec jokingly added: "Evening, Prime Minister." Dec went on to make fun of the Conservative Party’s recent leadership changes, adding: "By the way, who am I talking to there? Who is it this week? Is it still Rishi? Is it still him?" to which Ant replied: "I think so, but they’re probably due a new one before Christmas."

Following the episode, Ant and Dec went live on Instagram to chat to fans and viewers for a few minutes before posing the video to their main page. It showed the pair walking around their jungle set while discussing the latest action. "None of the other campmates realised Matt was going in as they were all in isolation," Ant said. "So you could see by their reactions tonight, there was shock, surprise... a bit of anger!"

He then added: "But it's good. There in there now." Dec then started to say: "It's the full..." before asking: "Is anyone else going in there Ant?" to which his co-host replied: "No, that's it."

But Dec continued: "Is what's his chops, Gavin Williamson going in? He resigned from the government yesterday." Ant remarked: "Go on then, stick him in. He can come eat some testicles if he wants."

Dec quipped: "Not in the show..." before asking:" Is Liz Truss, is she coming?"As Ant replied: "Yeah, she's not doing anything." But he may have taken it too far for Dec as he added: "Boris Johnson... you wanna get in there do ya?" Dec replied: "No... I draw the line at that."

They went on to ask fans what they thought about the new arrivals into camp before they revealed what they really get up to in between their live slots while viewers watch the latest jungle action. "We followed the I'm A Celebrity hashtag on Twitter tonight in between trying to follow the football as well because Newcastle were playing," Dec shared.

"But we were tyring to follow..." he went on to say before annoying Ant by moving around with his phone attached to a selfie stick. "I'm trying to follow you, where you going?" he fumed. Dec, 47, then said: "It was a big old mixed reaction from everybody which is understandable."

Ant, 46, added: "It is absolutely, really understandable. Especially just you know, an active member of parliament, leaving his job, his day job, and going in here. It is still surreal."
