ITV I'm A Celebrity Mike Tindall's Royal links and number in line to the throne

Mike Tindall's I'm A Celebrity journey is set to start on Sunday night.

The Rugby Union legend is one of 10 confirmed campmates as the show returns to its spiritual home in Australia. TV's toughest entertainment challenge will once again be hosted by Ant and Dec as the season premiere airs at 9pm on Sunday.

Mike will be joined Down Under by stars such as Coronation Street's Sue Cleaver, Loose Women's Charlene White and radio DJ Chris Moyles. The 44-year-old sought advice from his former teammate James Haskell, who competed on I'm A Celeb in 2019.

He said: "It is sinking in now that I am taking part. I am ready to rumble! I have been asked on numerous occasions to take part. The timing was right this year and Hask (James) did the show and he had been talking about it.”

Mike hasn't admitted to any phobias and he joked he will relish the show's notorious eating trials. He added: "I am eight years out of the game now so I am a bit more realistic about food, but I know James said the lack of food can sometimes be hard. But at least with the eating trials, you get food in you! It might not taste very nice but at least it is serving a purpose and giving you a protein intake. Bring on those challenges.”

Mike retired from rugby in 2014 - and he is happily married to Zara Tindall away from the pitch. The couple share three children and Mike admitted it will tough to be apart from them.

He said: "First and foremost, I will miss my family. I will miss my bed too and a nice breakfast.” Mike and Zara have been married since 2011 when they tied the knot in a ceremony at Canongate Kirk.

Zara is a member of the Royal family as she is the daughter of Anne, Princess Royal. The connection meant that Queen Elizabeth II needed to give her consent prior to the marriage.

Zara is the niece of King Charles III and is 20th in the line of succession to the British throne. She is also a British equestrian and won a silver medal at the 2012 Olympics.
