ITV Hub player goes down as Love Island fans left raging before launch episode

Love Island viewers were left panicking on Monday night, as many of them were unable to watch ITV2 online ahead of the launch episode of the 2021 series - while football fans tuning into the main channel for France vs Switzerland coverage were also left disappointed.

Many fans flocked to Twitter after being unable to view the channels on the live streaming service - ahead of the first Love Island episode since the previous finale, in February 2020, due to technical issues.

The coronavirus pandemic meant the 2020 summer series had to be cancelled, while the winter version was axed this year too.

But as a new batch of sexy singletons prepared to enter the villa for the 2021 series, many viewers began complaining of issues with watching the channel live on the ITV Hub.

It seems the influx of viewers wanting to get their fix of the ITV2 dating show, or perhaps those watching the football on the main channel, may have halted the stream causing it to crash.

While some viewers were able to watch without any issues as normal on TV, some fans watching on the online streaming service were left unhappy.

Taking to Twitter, many asked if it was just them experiencing issues as others begged ITV for assistance.

One fan said with just 20 minutes to go: "ITV Hub better be fixed by 9pm otherwise there’s going to be a lot of angry #LoveIsland fans."

Another said: "ITV HUB better not behave like this when #LoveIsland is on at 9PM. Thank you."

A third tweeted: "If itv hub doesnt work in time for #LoveIsland someones getting thrown xx."

The comments kept coming too, as the channel appeared to start working only to begin buffering again.

A viewer commented: "Now is not the time for ITV hub not to work. Sort it out ITV."

This was backed by another tweet that read: "Why is itv hub down 5 mins before it starts ???"

A third said: "The itv hub app isn’t working and I’m at work ??? U HAD ONE JOB ITV !!!"

Meanwhile a fourth tweet said: "Can ITV Hub be fixed pls thank u."

Luckily it was all systems go when the show started, as ITV2 was back up and running according to those taking to Twitter.

Many were left celebrating the return of the show, while a few did mention further issues with the Hub.

Love Island airs nightly at 9pm on ITV2.
